I have narrowed down my choices to 2 careers. it's either pharmacy or PA. I will be starting an internship program at a hospital to help me get nationally certified to become a pharmacist tech very soon. Also, during the winter break, I will hopefully be able to shadow a PA in order to gain a feel for what they do.

I'm starting college this term and will fill most of the pre-pharm reqs.I pretty much know most of the steps needed in order to become a pharmacist so there isn't much to ask. But i have a few question for any practicing PAs or students interested in a PA program. One, can I transfer into a PA program with having just completed 2 years of college coursework? Two, is the curriculum very hard? and lastly, do you enjoy what you do?

I know that the best way for me to get these answers is to go out and experience it myself. Hopefully, somebody can give me more insight on this. Good luck to everyone this year applying to pharm school.

were on the same boat! i might be considering PA as well if all else fails. My heart is really in pharmacy so i really don't see myself doing anything besides it so I just hope everything works out and that I don't have to "settle" for PA. I did a little research and it seems like all the schools in Cali require a bachelor's degree first before acceptance into the program. Most of the prereqs are similiar to Pharmacy except they dont have to take Ochem. They also require about a year of experience either working or volunteer.
If im not mistaken.......the PA people are the ones who assist in surgery right?

PAs are not just "the ones who assist in surgery" as u stated. In fact, a PA does 75-80% job of an medical doctor (MD) does. They perform similar tasks to their physician partners, including examination, diagnosis, diagnostic testing, treatment (including referral), and prescribing. But the thing is they must work collboratively with doctors (dependently).

most PA schools require a bachelors degree, my cousin recently got into the baylor PA school in houston with his MIS computer degree

PAs do a variety of job sorts. I shadowed a minor car ER PA, and most of the stuff he was doing was cutting staph infections... pretty neat
