So i have my OAT testing scheduled this thursday 1/18/2007 at 12.00 pm. Here's the debate... should i go and take it???? obviously the 48 hours to reschedule to another date is over already, but here's why i'm hesitating to retake it

1. if you've skimmed the threads around the optometry forums, you've probably read how my computer froze when i took the OAT back in september, and how i retook the oat two weeks after that. Then just last month, i found out that the OAT center didn't even disperse my retake scores. 😡 How pathetic right?? so i basically took the OAT two times in one month, and the second time was pointless!!!

2. After taking the OAT twice in a month, SCCO got my first's scores (obviously since the second was never sent) and told me they can't grant me an interview until i get an RC above 300 (i got a 280). So that was at the end of september, and i figured that since SCCO wants it too, then i might as well retake the OAT since other opt schools would want a higher RC score also. Paid $$250.

3. Got accepted into NOVA in November, and have an upcoming interview at UCBSO. And now I only want the scores of the OAT i just signed up for (the one coming up this Thursday 1/18/2007) to be sent to SCCO. I called the OAT center up and told them to just send my scores to SCCO, and that i'm not asking for a refund for all the other schools i requested to have scores sent to. (i am not well prepared for this OAT, therefore i have no intentions in sending the upcoming OAT scores to especially UCSBO). But they told me that they can't even do that!! 😡 hellooOoo?? i didn't even take the darn test yet, and i PAID for that "optional" service, therefore i do believe i should've been granted to simply have the scores be sent to SCCO only (remember, i didn't even ask for a refund) :d

4. the only reason i'd be willing to take it at this point is because of the fact that i paid $$250 for it. While i was on the phone w/ the DAT representative who takes care of the OAT stuff, i also asked them why my retake scores weren't sent out. They told me that the testing center itself (the center i'd be testing at if i go on thursday) didn't even send out those retake scores!! Then, they put me on hold for the longest time.... 😡 (and tho i may sound very frustrated and all right now, i was sweet as an apple on the phone, so no... they did not try to not talk to me because i was... "b!tchy".. maybe i should've been....🙄 )

it just all seems sooo fishy.... anyone a lawyer??? so what would you do if you were me?? I'd be nice to stay in california, and i have no idea how ucsbo's interview will go.... 😕

flip a coin!

haha just kidding. i wonder why scco is soo picky this year about their gpa and oat scores, perhaps they're becoming more popular o_o
I think it's really up to whether you REALLY want to go to SCCO or not, but I think you would do fine on the OATs (assuming you didn't force urself to forget all the info after the first time). i might be wrong but by the time your scores reach berkeley (takes 3 weeks) they probably would have made acceptance decisions so your repeat time scores wouldn't matter anyway. i think that made sense right lol.

personally, i think taking the OAT is like, giving birth (not that i'll ever know how that feels like), it takes alot out of you but since you already signed up then go for it : ) good luck.
