Hey Everybody:

I was wondering if anybody has had this experience before....

I was on the very last CCS case of day 2 of the USMLE Step 3, when all of the computers crashed at the Prometric Testing Center. The staff made us all leave the room while they rebooted their server and all of the computers. When we returned, I discovered that the system would not let me finish the last case that I was working on (the computer said that I would not be allowed to finish this section due to a "restart restriction").

For those of you who don't know, the CCS is a "clinical" case where you are presented a "patient" and you have to initiate treatment / order tests. I am guessing that you are not allowed to restart the case, because I was able to see the patient's chief complaint / read the H&P before the computer crashed (and therefore theorectically was able to think about the patient in the 10 minutes it took to reboot the system).

Has this happened to anybody before? Will the USMLE simply throw that section out for me, or will they count that section as a big fat zero, or will they make me go back and retake that one section / the entire exam.

Other than being generally pissed off about the network crashing, I am also frustrated because I have to take Step 3 by June 9 in order to meet my state licensing board's requirements!

Help!...any input is greatly appreciated!

Ben
