im a canadian student (ubc)
My GPAs of the first two years are low as hell, below 2.0
but those of the last two years are 3.9.
so my overall gpa is 3.1.

I have taken a cDAT and got 22 AA and 25 PAT

If i apply for some international-studen-friendly-schools NOW, what is my realistic chance?

im not sure about the exact sGPA but its around 3.6 (first two years really pulled me down)
My BCP is pretty much the same.

If you apply broadly to all the international friendly schools I'd imagine you'd get in somewhere. NYU comes to mind.

IMO it's a bit of a waste of time and effort (not to mention money) to apply now. I'd save yourself the worry and stress and focus on something else for the coming year, and just apply hella early next cycle. You have many months to prep your application this way.

Given your strong upward trend and good DAT scores I'd say you still have a chance! Are you doing another year of school this year or taking any courses? If you continue the high grades then you've got 3 good consecutive years; I'd say that's a solid application at many schools.

If you already have your application prepped and ready then I suppose it doesn't hurt to apply to a few large, private schools (such as NYU, just mentioned). As long as you have the cash to spare, and as long as you don't mind worrying and stressing your brains out for the next 6 months. This is the primary reason I suggest just taking it slow and applying next year.

Also, why not apply to Canadian schools, particularly UBC and the Ontario schools? U of T drops your worst year and UWO takes only your best two, so presumably that might stick you up in the 3.8-4.0 OMSAS range, which is certainly competitive.

Agreed with cleanup. I didn't realize you wanted to apply this cycle.

Judging from your stats you would stand a very, very good chance at UBC (with your in-province advantage). No worries! 😉
