I liked both of these programs but I am having trouble making a final decision. Costs are similar, and although Temple is in a worse area I have heard that does not matter. Can anyone offer some advice/insight on the DPT programs at these two schools?

I am from the area, and applied to both programs. Quite honestly both programs seemed to be very even. In the end, I got the impression that Temple was a little bit better of a program. I can't even tell you why to be quite honest. I hate to say it, but it was a "gut" feeling. I would choose whatever program you felt most comfortable with during the interview process.

Any positives/ negatives about Temple you could share?

I went to Drexel as an undergrad (not in PT) and I don't recommend it. They're overpriced and while the teachers are good the staff is not helpful when you need help with a specific issue. Of all my friends who went to Drexel only a couple don't regret spending the money. If I could go back I would go to Temple! And I don't know if it matters to you but Drexel barely has a campus has it is in the middle of the city. I definitely regretted not noticing that (and they don't have a football team- which was a definite bummer as an undergrad). Bottom line- save your money and go to Temple.

Sorry- just realized you said costs are similar. Still I would choose Temple.

I got into both of these schools and had a tough time deciding between them as well. I chose temple for its facilities, faculty and curriculum. Their facilities were new and head and shoulders above drexels. The Temple faculty seemed a little better and seemed to care more. Whether that is true or not was hard to tell, but my "gut" was that temple had better faculty.

Do you still feel that way? I heard from someone that Temple was ranked high a couple years ago when they had a group of faculty which has changed drastically since. Not sure if this was true or not. Have you been happy there?

Go with where you feel more comfortable. Look at what areas of PT are more focused on in each school...for example, Temple has a lot of spine researchers, Drexel may be better for Pediatrics. I was accepted at Temple and denied at Drexel (weird because I was a Drexel undergrad and volunteered there a lot..) The campus is so close to center city at Drexel and it doesn't matter if there's no football team once you're in grad school....

I haven't started there yet. i start this year in july.
The neighborhood isn't the greatest, but none of the students live there, and people make it out to be worse than it really is. All of the buildings you need to go to are on the main strip which is very well lit and guarded.
I agree with the above post, because Temple had a good amount of faculty specialized in ortho, which helped convince me to choose Temple as well
