this thread is more directed toward those who are students at columbia right now:

i'm planning on volunteering abroad this summer and will be basically out of the country from may till the middle of august. i know that our orientation this year starts on aug 24 and i will definitely be back in time for the white coat ceremony etc., but i was wondering if there is anything else that we need to attend before the 1-week orientation. i just want to make sure i don't have to go to nyc until orientation at the end of august..

thanks!

well, there's generally nothing that you'll need to attend before orientation, but make sure you have somebody who'll help you take care of misc stuff that will be mailed out such as financial aid, housing, orientation information etc. congrats on getting in!
