As stated, how does this happen?

If the recommender writes one LOR and gives it to my "committee" -- does the committee make say 15 copies and send out one by one to the different schools?

Or does the recommender make 15 and send out one by one to each school?

It depends on each individual committee, however, most likely copies will be mades. best wishes.

If your school has a LOR "committee" then your recommender must send their LOR to the committee and the committee will include it with the "commitee letter" (written for you, and is essentially all your individual LORs cut and pasted together in one document) that is to be sent out to all the schools you want it sent out to. So the committee will make 15 copies of the committee letter and send one to each of the different schools.

OR

If your school has a letter service, they hold your recs and send out copies for you as you request it.
