So currently I've just finished my first semester of sophomore year in college. I have a 3.355 cumulative GPA. My semester breakdown is as follows:
1st semester freshman year: 2.6
2nd semester freshman year: 3.5
summer session: 4.0
1st semester sophomore year: 3.611

Considering my grades, I am also an EMT (have been once since age 16) and am employed at a doctor's office (since 2004) and have done other work in the medical field both paid and volunteer. If my GPA stays as is, what would my chances of getting into medical school be? I only want to be an MD, not a DO. Please help!

first off, a 3.4 is even below average for all applicants, so i would recommend aiming higher than that. try to do what you did during the summer every semester-- but i imagine you weren't enrolled full-time like during the year, so figure out what's holding you back. you've got plenty of time to realistically bring your grades up to par for acceptance, or roughly 3.6-3.7. chances if your grades stay as-is: "very slim" %

second, i would say that the vast majority of applicants have done your EC's (to some degree), plus some more (such as research). don't get me wrong, your EC's are good, as clinical experience is required, but they're not very unique.

i would suggest, that since you have a variety of clinical experiences under your belt, you should only continue one or two that you are really enthusiastic about, so that you can free up some of your life to do something completely unrelated that you enjoy. i don't mean just "do stuff that you want", but maybe you have another interest that you can take a leadership/creative/initiative role in. and if this just-so happens to be "working in a doctor's office", then so be it, but add some flavor somehow.

oh, yeah, and don't forget about your mcat/letters...

As you have a GPA of 3.36 (or so) after three semesters of (I'll assume full-time) college coursework, with three more semesters of 4.0 work, your GPA would be up to 3.68. This would be a competitve GPA to apply to med schools with at the traditional application time after junior year. If you are unable to keep it reasonably high, you could use the senior year grades to continue to raise your GPA and apply after graduation. You must raise your GPA to have a decent chance at an acceptance. If your GPA stays the same, short of a miracle 34+ on the MCAT, your chances at an admission would not be very good.
