Help!!! Lor Question

Hi everyone,

My school takes a two week processing time after requesting LOR to be sent. I am trying to decide whether or not to send all my LOR's out before I finish my secondaries. Do schools mind?? Or do they like to receive secondaries before they receive the LOR.

Does anybody know????

As long as the school doesn't screen or they've asked you for a secondary, I'd say send your letters as soon as you can. That way, if there's any problems (lost in the mail, etc.) you can fix it sooner. And your app is that much closer to being complete. Good luck!

They don't mind. But make sure they requested a secondary from you before you send it off. Some schools, like UCSF, specifically say they will "destroy" your LORs if they were sent before a secondary is requested. Good luck.

i would send in the LOR asap, because you always have to plan for some unforseen delay (letters get lost in the mail, admission offices misplace them, etc.) most schools will put them in a file for you while you complete the secondary, but to be certain, i would check with your specific schools first. then, when you finally submit your secondary, i would call them and tell them that you sent in the letters a while ago - they should then be able to find them in your file.

Sry to highjack this thread, but I have another LOR question.
I have indicated on all my secondaries that I will be sending letters from the pre-med committee, but I also have a couple letters from two doctors I worked with coming seperately, to each school. Most secondaries didn't let me indicate about the extras. Do you think they'll accept 'em when they show up? Or ignore them? Should I call the schools? Lemme know, thx. 🙂

you may also want to do a search on sdn or on the school's admissions sites to see what kind of letters they want. i've seen that people have posted and answered about different schools. i dont know if you have just a premed committee letter or indiv. profs, but you may send a different combination of letters to some schools.

Definitely have the docs send the extra letters. The worst thing that could happen is the schools will ignore them.
