Help me convince someone...

Why bother convincing them? You know it doesn't matter.

Tell them you interviewed and ranked at the biggest name academic programs in the country, while you actually interview at and rank the programs that are attractive to you.

On Match Day, tell them how disappointed you are to have ended up at X community prelim, but that you are relieved that you didn't have to scramble.

I completed a TY program that is affiliated with one of the top hospitals in the country, granted I was at their smaller satellite facility, but I still worked daily with some of the best residents in the country. I felt that working with brilliant people made me a better physician down the road, but no one knows or even cares where you did your TY/prelim program. I applied to several strong med prelims and I felt they didn't really want applicants who were heading into other fields, those spots went mainly to well qualified FMGs who they wanted to "try out". By "try out" I mean give them a prelim med or surgery spot and if they are capable, they then offer them a categorical spot.
