Hello, just looking to get some help for me narrowing my application choices before i submit.

My states - "Good" E.C.'s, 110+ hours shadowing, 3.85 cGPA, 3.80ish sGPA, 20AA, 20 Science, 19 PAT

My current list is :

- Note, I'm from the midwest

- I think i heard one of the Kentucky schools aren't very OOS friendly?

- As far as Loma goes, I am religious, just not 7th day so figured give it a shot.

Thanks, and yes i've read the guide, i've researched a ton on this subject alone, just need to save some money and I don't think applying to each is best, I left out state schools by the way.

Get rid of LECOM.

Then, get rid of the next 6-7 you would least like to attend.

I would probably cut Harvard, too. Like Glimmer said, you need to cut the list by 6-7 more. This is coming from someone who grossly over-applied to schools last year, save money and cut some.

I'm pretty sure UCLA is very competitive, and expensive at that for COL. So unless you really want to end up in California I'd probably cut that too.

If you are in the midwest (which can be a goldmine for starting a practice later), why not consider Creighton or Iowa? Or any of the Illinois schools? (SIU, MWU-IL, ect)

So after going through them all and mainly selecting ones "nearby" me and then choosing ones that are somewhere I'd enjoy to go to I've ended up with this list, thoughts? I thought LECOM was good for OOS?

University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry (UOP)

Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Dental Medicine (LECOM-FL)

Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine-Illinois (MWU-IL)

Indiana University School of Dentistry (IND)

Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUF)

You're a MI resident? Just seems like so many schools to apply to when you appear to have a solid app and two state schools.

Yeah, I just am afraid to spread myself thin, I attended a smaller, lesser known state college so I feel that hurts my chances. I know a person from my school who had near a 4.0 and 24 on the DAT and didn't get into UM, so just makes me nervous, granted I do well in interviews so that could be a factor as well.

Eh. I go to a small, no name private school and I had no issue getting into my state school (among others).

I know @Glimmer1991 can speak the same too

Oh yeah!

There are probably people in my state that have never heard of my school, much less people on a national scale! No issues. 😀

Your friend is probably an isolated incident with those numbers. Probably an interviewing issue...
