Alright I've got it down to basically 4 colleges I'm deciding between.

In-state wise, I'm trying to choose between Indiana University and Purdue. I'd be a Biology (micro or molecular concentration) major, so from what I can tell both schools are pretty even. Purdue costs about $3k more, but that's not a big deal, considering I really like the research opportunities and programs there. All of my friends are going to IU though, and IU had an attached med school/hospital.

The other two are out-of-state, South Florida and Florida Atlantic. My parents are really pushing for Florida schools because they would like to move there as soon as possible. USF would cost about $29k per year, and FAU would be less. USF is bigger and has an attached med school, but I LOVE FAU and the area it's in.

Any advice? Or any other schools I should consider?

Go to the school you love.

If you can UF or FSU are great schools in florida and UCF

I've been looking at all of those, but UF and FSU seem pretty expensive for out-of-staters (although they do have good programs). I'll check into UCF.

What about scholarships? Have you visited those schools? Their atmospheres?

I'm visiting IU and Purdue next week, and I've visited USF and FAU. I assume I'd be competitive for scholarships (3.8 GPA, 29 ACT) but I doubt I have good enough stats to get a full ride or anything.

Wait until you see the campus and feel what's it is like there. Although I have no college searching experience, I know this girl. She graduated last year. Currently, she is attending Loyola up in Chicago. In such a large area, she could have very well chosen UChicago or even Northwestern. But when questioned her choice, it was because she liked Loyola, the atmosphere, how small it was, how everyone seemed to be very close due to the size of the school, the whole bit. It just suited her.
You know what I mean?

Can't really help with IU or Purdue, but I can say a little about FL schools.

FAU actually has a medical school (I think it's pretty new though), and you'd probably be accepted to the honors college if that's what you'd prefer. They give 4000+ scholarships to honors students too. Just something to look at. That said, USF is pretty good as well and if is more reputable, especially in medical, where I'm from, but of course any college can get you into medical school. I'd say wait until you get the acceptances and financial aid packages and then look more closely.

USF >= UCF 👍 UF is pretty much known as a crapshoot as far as I've heard though.
