So I am currently a psychology major that previously wanted to do pre-medicine. After during thorough research, I decided that I want to do pre-dental! I will be a Junior in the Fall. I have done a lot of my psychology and pre-requisite classes for my university already in this first two years (side-note, my GPA is a barely above a 3.0). I have not taken many science classes yet unfortunately, other than one semester of Organismal Biology. I plan on knocking out the 8 credits of General Chem this spring/summer semester; 8 Credits of Physics in Fall/Winter, I can TRY to knock out 8 semesters of Orgo/lab this fall/winter as well, as well as one more semester of Biology. Will these courses be enough for me to take the DAT next May/June or no? When is the best time to take the DAT, to get into the first batch of applications? What else should I do to help me get into dental school? What are my chances of getting in? Should I just save all my remaining psychology classes for my senior year? What other science classes should I take? What are all the sections of the DAT exam?

Sorry if I am a total noob on these forums 🙁, but I can really appreciate some help! thanks in advance

If you think you can get A's while taking all of your prereqs at the same time I think it would be better to save your psychology classes till the end. That way you can boost your BCP for your application next summer and will make studying for the DAT a little easier. DAT is Science (Bio, Gen Chem, Orgo), Reading comprehension, Math, and Perceptual ability. The main things are your total science score, PAT and academic average (average of everything but PAT). Make sure you start shadowing a general dentist, volunteer, get involved with something, get to know your professors so you can get good letters of rec, read SND forums, but the most important thing is to stay on top of your grades.
