I am an IMG and a pathology resident in my country. I have been looking for an opportunity of one-month observership in the US but with no hope.
Please guys can you tell me what hospitals offer observership for IMG? If any path resident here can tell me if their hospital would accept me.
Help please

Ah....it's moments like this I'm reminded just how much path and psych have in common.

How many programs have you contacted? I would bet many programs would be happy to have you, although possibly for a fee. Are you actually contacting the pathology departments, specifically the residency programs, at various hospitals? I can't say for sure which ones will let you in, and I'm sure you'll need verification from your own pathology residency in your country. Maybe have your program secretary/director contact a pathology program you're interested in. You've got to narrow it down and have an idea of which one you'd like to visit, though.

Northwestern and Hopkins used to offer observerships for IMGs. I'm not sure if they still do, but it is worth contacting them to find out. Also try: Henry Ford, University of Massachusetts & University of Miami

Here is a list with some more you can try:

Good luck

You kinda just have to go through the list of places with a training program, like from a FREIDA search, and ask the places that you think you might like each in turn. Some don't like to deal with foreign students or foreign school requirements, if any. I wouldn't put too much stock in what their GME department says, because they always sound more strict than the reality -- call or email the programs directly, unless their departmental website addresses the point specifically. Many are willing to allow a simple observership, especially if they don't have to do something extra for you to get credit with your originating school. The next problem would be scheduling, as some programs will book up and/or have certain months they have reasons to not want a rotator.

I'm very glad that there are people who actually replied me regarding this issue because i kinda emailed most of the programs you guys suggested and i didn't even get a simple reply of 'sorry we take no observers'.

I'll keep on searching, however.

Thank you guys.

Email is not the best way of contacting people for observerships. You should be calling residency coordinators at the various programs.

Oh really? I thought emails are the rule.
Although it will cost me a lot, I will call some programs.

It's easy to ignore an email. It is more difficult to ignore a human being who has called your office. The person to contact at most programs will be the person with the title Program Coordinator, or something similar to that. You want the administrative person for the program, not the actual program director. That's a no-no.
