Please help!! I am planning on applying this year and this is the list of schools I have so far. I'd like to know if I have any chances of getting in or what other schools should I add to the list. Any suggestions are really appreaciated.

My BCPM is 3.20
Overall is 3.40
Florida Resident
Hispanic-Female
Volunteer experience: Cancer Hospital ~50 hrs

List
1. UF
2. Nova
3. U. of Pacific
4. U. Maryland
5. U of CT
6. Stony Brook
7. U. Boston
8. Tufts
9. ???
10. ???

Thanks!! 😀

Might want to take Stony off because they only accept something like 4 or 5 out of state residents. However, if you really like the school then by all means keep it on and see what happens.

Why not add Virginia schools?

It would help if you tell us what you are looking for in a dental school.

I think this type of thread's becoming the new trend. 🙂

You should apply to

San Antonio
UCLA
Creighton
Medical College of Georgia
and U Mississippi

Being a hispanic girl will get you in UNLV. (And your decent stats)

The Medical College of Georgia only accepts in-state students

As a Florida resident, her GPA is going to need to be much higher getting into San Antonio as an out-of-state resident.

I would look at applying to private schools... state schools are very difficult to get into as a non-resident. I mentioned ASDOH because they have taken individuals across the entire spectrum as far as GPA and DAT are concerned. They are looking at the entire package... community service, extracurriculars, etc.

And as far as the Virginia schools are concerned, I have heard that you are more likely to be interviewed/accepted if you have ties to the school. This does not mean everyone who gets accepted has ties to the school, but it definitely doesn't hurt from what I have heard.

Have you taken your DAT yet? I would go to predents.com and look at entering statistics for GPA and DAT and see what schools fit your stats best. Look at the people who were interviewed and accepted and what their stats were as well. Also look at what states applicants who are accepted are coming from... sometimes schools favor students from certain parts of the country, and some schools have admissions agreements with certain states.

Your DAT scores will largely determine where you should apply, especially because of that GPA that is on the low side. Have you taken any practice exams or do you have any idea how well you will score?

WIth that GPA I would say UCONN and Stony are out of the question being out of state unless you have a 22+..... if you get a 17AA then you can apply to a couple and try and get lucky. with that GPA you are going to need a 23AA to get into some of those schools as an out of state resident

Dont waste your time applying to UF or NOVA... Unless you get like a 23AA on the DAT

UF will give you an interview just because your a FL resident, but expect to be rejected on december 1st.

NOVA wont even reply to you, or might just reject you as soon as you send them the 2ndary fee.

Good luck

apply everywhere. well you'd have to unless you sit down and think about what you want out of your dental school experience, or what you look for in a dental school (cost, location, clinical exposure, didactics, etc.). that will definitely help you narrow some schools down.

I think you should take stony off and put in NYU.. i think you'd have a realistic shot at NYU with a 21AA

add Louisville! (I really liked the school!😀)
and NYU is a good one too...😉

I don't know what you are talking about but Nova is one of the easier to get into schools just like NYU....
