Your stats EC seem average, slightly below, for MD. How many schools did you apply to?
Also, with those stats, you can apply to any DO school.
Don't apply to WCU, LUCOM, OSU, OU-HCOM.
PNWU and Rowan have some regional bias.
I'd also skip VCOM (except Virginia), CUSOM, and WVSOM with your stats.
i applied to about 25 MD schools last cycle......
not sure why i got owned.
Also i really appreciate the help guys. Means a lot!
also not to sidetrack the school list topic.. but what do u guys think about applying to MichSt. DO PhD program? I would be interested, but do I have a chance?
thanks
Mass.
and no not transfer
and i dont have the list posted no.. but i used MSAR to find schools and they were all pretty much third/second tier
That is odd, I thought your stats would get you into atleast one MD school. I know someone with far less who got into a tier 2 school with 29 MCAT, 3.5 GPA.
bout 0
rounded down.
i really dont know..... tbh. i need to call some schools.
bit late for improving eh 😉 ... but i mean i worked full time in pharma... i volunteered for a few things, and did a little more md shadowing. so i dont really know what else to do.
and no not really considered grad programs.
okay will do... only prob is my mcat expires this year........... yikes.
any more suggestions for school list guys? im kinda lost on that end. i kinda sidetracked my own thread lol!

not sherif troll^ lol... my prime sdn days were in the past with an account i forgot the username to lol... back when i was happy
I was being legit. It is a good school, affordable tuition, great location, and wonderful people.
You made a mistake by not applied to any DO school last year. You have a great chance with all DO schools, if there is no red flag in your application of course. Turn your app in day 1 and get that DO letter ASAP.
First off, where do you want to live for the next 4 yrs?
Cali has Wester and Touro-cali. Texas has TCOM. Florida has LECOM-Branton campus. NYC has NYIT & Touro NY.
Some good DO schools with good matches are DMU (heavily primary care focus), KCU, KCOM, CCOM (but cold), PCOM-PA, and AZCOM (high tuition).
It is a Caribbean school, high attrition, less than 50% of match rate for IMG last year and it will get worse. You shouldn't advocate for such if you did some research.
cali would be chill
florida is nice. nyc would be awesome too. i guess im not too picky on location, but obviously cali / nyc are very appealing.
what DO schools have good matches in non primary care residencies (just curious, not trying to be a typical pre-med)

Well, better than nothing?
If it was a matter of just losing four years of your live, I could live with that. But I could not live with the knowledge of paying back 300K in loans without a residency. I would rather go into law, if I liked it that is...
Depends on which law school though, lawyers are getting laid off nowadays.
Plus, I'd not waste 4 yrs of attending any med school that is not LCME or COCA accredited.
Is this a violation for SDN? If so, I'd be happy to report you.

awesome. thanks everyone for ur input
i will compose a "final" list tomorrow and report back here for you guys to check out.
OP, you don't need a master's program. That's terrible advice. You'll be fine applying DO (and maybe even get some love on your MD re-apps, if you've remedied any issues from your previous app cycle... did you apply late by any chance?). Don't listen to the high schooler who is advising you to waste money on a degree you don't need, and then waste more money on a caribbean medical school.
You can apply to any DO schools you like. I'd advise you to apply to more established programs and avoid schools that haven't yet graduated any classes yet, since you don't really "need" to be applying to new programs with your stats.
Through PM I said he would get accepted to any DO program of his choice.
O, I see, you just think it's cool to post bad advise on a public forum. Very mature.
Not even gonna with this one.![]()
Then why did you even bother replying?obviously, you are very rude and don't respect physicians who attended stigmatised institutions .
I agree that a masters is a huge waste of money.
Also, you applied to 25 MD schools with decent stats and ZERO interviews. This tells me you have a red flag somewhere else. Terrible PS? Crappily written ECs? Bad LOR? No idea OP, you need to call every single MD school and figure it out.
So you had an SDN account in the past when you were applying and you didn't know about DO schools? Did I read your original post correctly?not sherif troll^ lol... my prime sdn days were in the past with an account i forgot the username to lol... back when i was happy

Can't say much about DO schools (not too knowledgeable on that front) so looks good to me 😉! In all seriousness though, I'm surprised you didn't get any responses from MD schools with those stats. Would you mind posting a list of MD schools you plan on applying to/applied to last year so we can get something to work with on that front? I don't really see any immediate "red flags" on your application so maybe the previous school list was at fault. It might also help us to expand on your research/volunteering experience. Scattered, non-cohesive experiences often hold much less water than continuous ones.
