hello
so I took my DAT today, didn't do as well as I expected. Actually I did alright, but I have one really low score in organic, which I really needed to do well in because I didn't do too well in the actual course. Plus I know a lot of the schools you need a minimum of 17 for each section. So I registered to take the exam again, but I'm just wondering how it will all work out with the whole application process. I submitted my AADSAS on May 25th, my application would be complete with LORs and DAT scores coming in next week. How will the schools know that I am retaking the DAT? Should I contact them individually? I don't want them to have one look at my scores and throw away my application!
I know I can do a whole lot better, I didn't buy destroyer b/c I felt like I wouldn't have enough time to use it...but this time I think that will help me out a lot. All the SDNers seem to rave about it!
aah please help! i'm sure a few of you have had the same situation...am I completely screwed?

Don't worry, just call your schools and let them know you are retaking. I'd send them a written statement as well, just in case. Most schools don't start looking at your application until about 3 months from now anyway, and there will be many people in the same boat as you. Actually, there will be many people worse off then you, because 19s are good, you just have to work on your orgo. Good luck!

try to retake it asap. the sooner the better. try the odyssey for ochem and really focus on what your weaknesses are. by the way are you indian?

you probably already know but you need to wait 90 days to retake dat.

what you said about throwing away your application.....i called/emailed a lot of school and they said they dont do that. but we never know. hopefully they dont. i got a 16 in math =(

It seems like a lot of applicants have been accepted with "one" low score. It seems like QR is a common low score. I personally know a lot of guys who got in witha 15-16 in QR. Hope it's that way for me too. Some schools however, Indiana, Michigan, Loma Linda, UoP require minimum scores in every section. Thats why I didn't apply to these schools. For me it would have been a waste of money. There are plenty of schools that will overlook one low score as long as the avg is good.

thanks for the advice guys!!! I just took a mini vacation and now it's time to hit the books again 🙁
I really don't know what happened to me with the orgo... I think I started to panic and rushed through because I took a longer time with the bio section...there were some WEIRD questions on there that really did require you to think. Timing was never a problem for me on the practice exams, I always finished with at least 10-15 mins to spare.
and for you guys who are worried about the QR score... I wouldn't worry about it too much. I feel like QR is least imporant of all the sections.
