I am in the process of choosing schools to apply for. I have a 26M on my MCAT and a 3.51 cumulative gpa. I have done research with a college professor, shadowing doctors, volunteer work..etc. I am a state employee and have been working full time for a government program for the last year targeted towards the underprivileged community. That was really brief, but what are my chances for D.O./ M.D. ? Where would I have a good chance of getting in? I am a Florida resident.

Your mcat will definitely hurt you for MD, but you can try florida schools since you are a resident, but outside of that very little chance at all. However, you are competitive for DO schools.

Thanks for the advice. Does anyone know anything about FSU or UCF acceptance stats? or any of the other MD stats in florida??

Take a look at the School Selection spreadsheet stickied to the top of this forum for acceptance stats for all allo med schools.

I'd say go DO, but if you are up to retaking the MCAT- then MD would one day be an option. What about LECOM- Bradenton?

I applied for both, all MD schools in Florida though (keeping my fingers crossed). I don't know a lot about LECOM-Bradenton.I have been reading up on it since it is in Florida. Anyone have any pros/cons about LECOM-Brandenton vs. Nova?
