I am planning to apply for admission to a British Medical School for the fall of 2006. I know that the admissions process is very competitive, however I was hoping that someone would be able to provide me with some insight on which schools I would have the best chance of gaining admissions to. If you could provid numbers such as GPA and possibly a list of schools that I may want to take a look at that would be tremendously helpful. I am certain that despite the competitive nature of these programs, there are some British schools that will accept a large number of international students. I just need assistance to find out what schools partake in aceepting US or intl students.
Thanks

AFAIK no British medical school takes more than any other - they all fix their foreign student intake at roughly 10%. They are meant to give preference to people from disadvantaged countries for these places, but I don't know if this is carried out in practice. That doesn't mean you should be put off from applying though. I met an American girl last year who got into the 4 year graduate course at Oxford (granted, she had done her undergrad at Yale though)! If American students can get in there, they can get in anywhere!

The 1st thing you want to do is start narrowing down your options. Do you want a graduate course or are you willing to take an undergraduate one? Do you have a preference for SBL or PBL? Start looking at the websites for medical schools and fire off some e-mails to their admissions departments. Don't wait too long; the UCAS form has to be in by October 15th.

If you've any more specific questions, feel free to ask.

i am also interested in applying to schools in the UK. Does anyone know, or know how to find out other than by going through every school's website what schools have graduate programs or 4/5 year programs? I found a thread here that mentioned something about Warwick I believe, in Leicester? Does anyone know of any others?
