Hi future doctors,

would you guys give me some advices of how to prepare for a microbio shelf exam? I looked at some sample questions from NBME website, and all of the questions pertained case presentations and then identification of a bug. I 'm having a hard time to connect typical symptoms with each bug.

Any suggestion? How did you prepare for this?
If i just memorize everything in Clinical Microbio made ridiculously easy, that'll be perfect right? i really liked the charts at the end of each chapter.

Your advice would be very appreciated.

If you knew ridiculously simple backwards and forwards you would do great. I found flashcards were a great study tool as well. One thing that really helped me before going into the exam was memorizing simple flowsheets for virus and bacteria classification. I had 10-12 questions that were simply classifying bugs i.e. gram +/-, capsulated/non-capsulated, etc. Good luck!

I did all the micro questions from Qbank, and I did pretty good on the test. That's pretty much all I used, in addition to First Aid.
