Hello,

I got accepted to NOVA and NECO and I am having a hard time deciding where to go. I have to make a decision this week.

NOVA:
Pros: I am from Florida, I love the weather, much less expensive tuition
Cons: program is not as prestigious, less clinical experience

NECO
Pros: I loved the Boston area, I am interested in possibly moving for 4 years, earlier clinical experience
Cons: Tuition is $10,000 more a year, I may get sick of the weather quickly

Please let me know of any input (good or bad) that might help me make this decision!

Thank you.

If I was you, I'd be going to NOVA. Saving 10 grand a year is insane, especially in a larger perspective paying interest on that much money. Living in Boston is def. more than Ft. Lauderdale. The NOVA program I don't think is as good, which you noted. If you plan to stay in Florida you will probably have more networking available also. I visited NECO and it was beautiful, and they have a VERY solid program, but I'd be picking Nova in your situation. Just my 2 cents! Good luck!

They're both pretty prestigious. Also, both schools have an extremely high board pass rate. Either way will not be easy. Ten thousand dollars a year is a lot of money, but in the long run it will only add to to 40k plus interest rates. You will be able to pay that off easily after you graduate. Remember, this is your future, and only basing it off that and the weather, maybe you should look a little harder. Which school do you think you will be more comfortable in, with respect to personal, students, the way the school is run, education methods, and competitiveness. Also, if I recall correctly, I think both schools have a 24-hour pre-clinic area for practice, not a 100% on NECO but I know NOVA has that, which is a great preparative tool for boards and experience. Talk with your family and friends to make the right decision for you! Good Luck! =D

I was in the same exact situation as you. I am from Florida and got accepted to both NOVA and NECO. I ultimately decided to go to NOVA since it is cheaper, and I wouldn't have to move far from home. But I agree it was a very difficult decision I fell in love with boston when I interviewd there. Goo luck making a decision!
