I am an intenrational student, currently a senior at high school
I got into nyu ba dds program and rhode island six year program(scholarship 13000 year for four years). Now I need to choose between the two schools but I do nit know where to go.
I feel like I will live a comfortable life being a pharmacist, since it is less competitive than being a dentist, but I may feel like living TOO confortable. I already have a straight ticket for becoming a dentist -now I only have to survive in the program-so it will be losing a great opportunity if i choose pharmacy school just for the tuition.
My parents said that they may do whatever to pay for three years of tuition, but for the rest of the tuition i will have to get loans. But i an an international student and could not receive any fa. Now i am wondering why i chose to apply one of the most expensive school. I really do not want to lose this opportunity but i cannot also ignore the realistic factor. What should i do? I want to at least hear many opinions and advices!!🙂

I wish you the best of luck with either decision. If you spend some time in the pharmacist forum you will see that there is somewhat of a crisis going on right now in the field. In order to correct for the shortage a few years back, way to many new pharmacist were accepted. Many can't find solid jobs now. With this in mind, I would lean toward dentistry. But again, I wish you luck with either decision.

Pharmacy is undergoing a giant surplus right now and has like 30 new schools opening in the next few years to add to that problem.

Dentistry is also ballooning out of control, but not to the extent of pharmacy.

I would read both dental and pharmacy forums before making a decision. Either way, you'll be six figures in debt 🙁

the nyu ba/dds program is not as easy as you think. (i'm speaking from experience). unless your totally committed and ready to work your butt off, i suggest pharmacy.

Its really not a good idea to make such an important decision about your career and the rest of your life by considering the tuition of the schools.. There are huge lifestyle differences. Also how are you accepted to BA/MD program and 6 year PharmD and its July and you're still considering between the two? Unless you're applying this upcoming year and are hypothetically asking this question it seems strange.
