Which lender did you pick for your Federal Stafford loans? And why?

I'll be commuting to NYU(living with parents) so I'll save on room and board costs. Does that affect who I should choose as a lender? 😕

Any help would be great!!

Not really. Whatever Staffords don't cover, private loans should cover. Don't worry.

Oh yea. You're a lucky bastard. 😛

It does matter because of the various fees differ by lender. For example, the default Citibank lender charges an origination fee (I think 3%) for the federal portion. When I found out about this I swithced my lender for the federal portion to ACCESS, which does not charge it. For the portion outside of the federal I used the Citibank/Citiassist private loan, which did not have fees.

So how much were you able to borrow? The max $38,500?
