Dear forum, I'm very fortunate to have received many interview offers this season, more than I can possibly go to. Due to various scheduling conflicts, I can only attend one of the following three interviews: the Ohio State University, University of Kentucky, and University of Louisville. Since there is no "official" ranking system for psychiatry programs, it is difficult for me to judge which of these programmes are "better". As midwestern cities, Columbus, Louisville, and Lexington all feel roughly comparable to me.

If anyone has any opinions please weigh in, I need to pick one and withdraw from the other two. Is there a particular reason why one of these 3 is way better than the other 2? Is there a reason why any of the 3 cities is way better than the other 2? I have no particular stake in any of the 3 particular locations.

Also, ha ha is it bad that I'm leaning towards Louisville because they're paying for hotel? 😀

Well, you took the words right out of my mouth about the hotel room. 😀

I was trying to decide about Louisville and OSU - can't really comment about UK. I noticed that most of the residents from OSU either went there for medical school or came from other Ohio schools. I don't know whether that's just because they really liked the area or because they had families and didn't want to leave - if it's the latter, I dunno if that's the group of residents I'd jell with best on a social level.

Also, Louisville's a little bit of a bigger program, which appeals to me. I didn't see any resident profiles on their website though, for better or worse.

From a purely academic perspective, OSU has more respected names and probably has a stronger reputation. I have fairly positive transferences toward all 3 programs, probably for personal more than professional reasons.

Each of these 3 is a weaker program than your home program.

Thanks for everyone's input. I may have room for 2 after all (probably giving up UK).
