took the dat, here's my scores...

Bio/15 chem/20 ochem/16 TS/17 rc/19 qr/18 pat/23

I have. 3.55GPA 3.5 sGPA

190 hrs shadowing

400+ volunteering

100+ leadership

Applying to 8 schools, but I think I need to up that, but which schools?
Dat?

Are there people who get accepted with these scores?

Sorry but you will have to retake probably. That 15 on Bio really hurts and schools have cut offs so that already limits where you can apply.

Yeah, I agree with BYU4you.

I would've been a lot more optimistic if you had 18 AA (according to the scores you've listed) without the 15 in Biology.

Tufts, for instance, has minimum DAT requirement of 16 AA, 17 PAT, 17 RC, and 16 TS (http://dental.tufts.edu/admissions/dmd-program/#academic). You meet all the requirements, so even if your 18 AA is lower than Tufts' average of 20 AA, you would've had a shot, especially since your SGPA is higher than Tufts' average SGPA.

Even though there usually isn't a minimum score for the individual science sections, the 15 in biology will be a red flag for many dental schools. The bio section is known for being one of the more important scores, along AA, TS, and RC.

You should see if the eight schools you plan to apply to have any minimum DAT requirements. If you meet all of them, then you should apply if you want. 4.3% of the enrolled students have a TS score of 14-16 and a much more promising 20.4% of them had an AA of 17-18 (Source: American Dental Education Association, U.S. Dental School Applicants and Enrollees, 2013 Entering Class). So to answer your question, yes, there are people who do get accepted with your scores, indeed! It's just not many had 16 TS (which would also be the case with 15 bio)... So if you want to apply, you should. See, we are just dealing with numbers right now. There are so many other factors that we didn't consider. But, God forbid, if it doesn't work out too well this cycle, I am sure you will get plenty of interview invites next cycle with your SGPA, shadowing experiences, and extracurricular activities with a slightly higher DAT score.

Hope I helped... Good luck with everything!
