so i have a problem...i am kind of stuck in the middle of things. this year i got interviewed at Loma Linda and Midwestern and got rejected from both places. when i called to ask what i can do to strengthen my application both places gave me two different answers. one said to retake my DAT and the other told me to take more science classes to raise my gpa. i graduated from ucsd with a econ major with a 3.0 and i took all my prereqs at a 4 year university and have a science gpa of 3.2. i know that my gpa is pretty low, but on my dat i got organic chem 24 general chem 23 biology 20 reading 18 pat 18 math 13 so the total science 22 and academic average 20. i know that i have a really low math score so i even considered retaking my dats. but im scared that if i do worse it will look really bad. I have alot of EC and im currently doing dental research with Loma Linda. I plan to reapply for this upcoming year, but should i retake my dats or take a full load of science classes??? what would you do??? thank you so much!🙂

if you plan to reapply this coming year, i think it is too late to take any more science classes?

the best thing to do is retake your DATs? i agree with you. your DATs look good, but the math is really low.

how early did you apply and how many schools did you apply to?

have you been doing anything this past year to strengthen your application?

I think you should re-take your DAT. Yes your average is really high but that low math score hurts. I know that some schools don't accept students if they have a score lower than 15 in any area of the test. I just got into Midwestern after applying twice. The first time I took the DAT I got an AA of 19 with a PAT of 14. The second time I took the DAT I did worse in other areas (AA of 18) but a PAT of 18 and now I got accepted. So sometimes just fixing that one low score helps tremendously!

Hey, I don't think your QR is holding you down too much. This years average QR was a 15. Assuming the PAT is more important I had a friend get accepted to more than 1 school with an 18bio/19gchem/20orgo and a 14 pat.

I am kinda in your situation, low gpa high DAT. So far i'm waitlisted at nyu and likely temple. I'm applying to master programs so i don't waste my time.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would say take your DATs over. A lot of schools have a minimum requirement for each section. Good luck!

Retake your DAT definately. With a well below average GPA you need to have a rock solid DAT. Get those lagging scores up to 19 minimum. Apply to 20 schools too.
