  1. Pre-Dental
So I am currently in community college to get my 24 credits then I plan on transferring to Oklahoma University. I just went up and got a application and it asks if I have ever been convicted of a felony. I am on a deferred sentence for unauthorized use of a computer (yea, what a joke I know). Will this hinder me from getting accepted to the university? I have a 4.0 coming from my juco and I will be able to get this expunged in 3 years anyway before I start dentistry school. Help please!

Dental schools check your background so where it says "Have you been convicted of a felony" on AADSAS Application and Secondaries, write that. Be truthful because if you say no and they find out you lied, your screwed.

Well I am just worried about getting my bachelor degree first. Plus, in Oklahoma the expungement laws read that once you get your felony expunged then you can legally answer no to those questions.

Than what's your question?

Than what's your question?

I am trying to get into OU now. Not the dental school but the actual university. I want to go now not when I get my expungement in 3 years. What I was saying is I will have it expunged before D school but I still have to get accepted to the University to get my bachelor. Understand?

I think so, but if you are expunged prior to your application to dental school, what difference does it make?

If it's "deferred," then you were never "convicted"... what it means is that your judgement is deferred until you have completed probation... so if it's in your probation that you get it expunged upon successful completion, then you technically will have never been "convicted."

So unless the judge said "I find the defendent guilty of _____" (which he/she shouldn't have if it was actually a deferred judgement) then you were never convicted and can truthfully answer no... or depending on state law (which I'm unsure of out there) you may still be able to answer no since you're on probation, even if you were convicted.

I would call a lawyer to be sure, but I'm almost positive that you can answer no with no negative consequences.

Never mind, you obviously have no idea what my question is.😕

I personally think it depends on what that "unauthorized use" was!
If you downloaded some music or something, it shouldn't really impact you that much.
If you hacked into someone's bank account, then perhaps you should be worried a little.

No, I'm pretty sure I do. I'm just confused as to why you are asking a dental forum about getting accepted to your university because of the felony, since it has no bearing on dental school.

Well let me clear it up for you since you are so confused. This is PRE DENTAL. I am considered PRE DENTAL. I thought someone maybe has gone through the same situation as me but I guess not and yes it has a bearing on dental school for me. :boom:

No, it doesn't. You're trying to get into an undergrad program and your felony will be gone before dental school. Hence, no bearing.

Wow, you are impossible. Thanks for the help and answering my question by the way 🙄 Oh yea, no undergrad = No D school. Make sense?

Haha, yes I totally 100% completely understand what you are saying, and have understood throughout the entire conversation. My point is that a DENTAL forum is a strange place to ask what you're asking. This is one of the most pointless conversations I've had in a long time though, so I'll stop here.

ETA: Didn't mean to be an ass before, sorry if I came off that way. Good luck in your endeavors.
