Hi everyone, I really need your advice. Sorry for the long post.

I applied this year and landed 2 interviews, but no acceptances 🙁. I've been wait listed at one and haven't heard from the other yet :xf:. Although I want to stay positive and hope for the best, I also want to prepare for the worse since June is coming up soon and I would like to reapply as early as possible. My first mistake is probably the fact that although I applied in June last year, I didn't take my DAT's till October.

My AA was an 18 so I know I need to retake and hopefully do better in math and reading, but just thinking about having to study for that exam again makes me... :bang:.

I've also been out of school since 2009 so I'm thinking I should probably go back to school. Do you guys think that going back to school as a non-degree seeking student is ok? or do I 'have' to apply for a master's program? I'm honestly only taking classes to stay active in school, since I could see from one of my interviews that one of their concerns was that I might be a little rusty from being out of school for so long. This was not said to me directly, but I could tell by the conversation.

Also, I can only take one summer class. I plan on taking more in the Fall and Spring, but do you guys think that reapplying without actually completing any of these credits is going to make a difference in my application? or do I need to wait out this cycle and then reapply next June after I have completed a year of school?

Also, is going back to school part time acceptable? or do I need to quit my job and go back full time? Well, as a non-degree student they only allow 10 credits, so if I need to take more I would have to apply to a Graduate program or another undergrad degree.

Again, sorry for the long post, but if you've made it this far then thanks for reading and any advice you have for me would be greatly appreciated 😉.

On a more positive note...CONGRATULATIONS to those of you who got accepted this cycle 👍. Ha, wish I had 😛.

yes ofc its okay. Its actually encouraged for students to stay academically active during their "wait year". Whether you do post-bacc (non-degree seeker) or masters depends entirely on your particular situation but both options are good... and IMO, post-bacc is better (its also cheaper, requires less commitment, and better for your schedule since you have a job)

As far as going back to school full-time vs part-time, you are working full-time right? So thats generally a good excuse for being part-time student.... I say ur okay with taking 10 credits (or even less). Good luck on your DATs

Thanks for the advice Dentalworks! I really appreciate you taking the time out to help me out 🙂

My science GPA is a 3.68 with +/- and a 3.7 without +/- according to my AADSAS. I know its only a small difference in my case, but just out of curiosity do you know which one the schools typically look at?

They ask me what i'm doin this year as my yr off. I said i'm taking a few classes at CC to keep my brain active. I'm taking dance classes and random classes. They had no problem 🙂 Better volunteer though!
