hey,
i have been studying for a couple weeks now, day and night (doing all the KAPLAN material) and i just got my DAT destroyer, and my DAT is less than a week away, and on the DAT destroyer bio/chem sections i am scoring on average of about 6 or 7 out of 10 right...

i thought i knew my stuff very well, but it doesnt seem that way... should i be discouraged and push back my DAT?

advice please!

I always tell everyone that Kaplan is a great way to start studying for the DAT but not a great way to end it. I really suggest you to ace the Destroyer if you wanna do well on the DAT!

so, if i go thru the entire book and understand why each question is the answer it is, like fully understand, then that would be sufficient? along with the kaplan studying and other stuff of course

Well I can't tell you what's sufficient and what's not! It's all up to you! Each person is different...As far as science sections I think you should be fine. I only went through Kaplan and Destroyer and pulled a 24 TS. So depending on how well you know those materials and your science background, I think you should be fine. My point is that those materials should be enough to earn a good science score, now whether you do well or not, it's up to you!

when you went through the destroyer for the first time was it discouraging at all? or how were you doing on average?

Somewhat yes it was. So don't freak out if you think it's a bit difficult. Just make sure you understand everything on there. Destroyer has more details, especially for Bio, than Kaplan. I would say questions on Destroyer concetrate on the material that have been seen on the old DATs! If you won't have time to go through everything, make sure you ace Ochm! Destroyer Ochm is key to a high score! I studied nothing but destroyer for the Ochm!

I dunno! I don't think one week is enough time to review the entire destroyer. Perhaps you should reschedule your DAT so you can invest more time in going over the destroyer problems. Destroyer helped me alot, specially in G-chem and O-chem sections. What's important is that destroyer questions won't be very helpful if you simple solve them once. You need to solve them at least twice, and I highly recommend reading the solutions even if you get the correct answer.

Good Luck!

i would really try to have more than 1 week to go over the destroyer. Its true that if you are thorough with the destroyer you will be in a better position for the DAT. Plus I dont know how you study but it too me almost 2 weeks to go over all of the destroyer doing the problems first and then reviewing what i got wrong.

Also going over the destroyer just once did not help me retain everything and i feel it will taken more than 1 time of going through it to know it better.

Hey all, I've been going through the DAT Destroyer and just completed the Biology section today and it seemed pretty easy. For those who have done the Destroyer bio and have taken the real DAT, how does it compare? I am taking the DAT in about 2 weeks so I am trying to gauge what I should spend my time reviewing. Thanks in advance!

I feel like the deystroyer is front heavy.

I started chem and orgo and freaked out a bit and then after doing a quarter the rest was smooth sailing. Anyone else notice that?

Yeah. I did. I really think the book does a great job introducing the majority of major concepts in the beginning and then kind of tests you to see if you remember on the last half of the problems. At least that's how I felt.
