Hello everyone!

I am in a slightly different situation than most applying to dental school, and I would just like some feedback about whether or not im on the right track. I have already built up lots of volunteering hours and some extracurriculars. I have spoken with a couple dentists that are more than willing to let me shadow them. I've also started studying for the DAT, but am not sure when I am supposed to take it yet.

Any and all advise is appreciated - am I generally on the right track? Is it possible for me to be a strong applicant by June 1st? When should I take the DAT?

Thanks so much!

Hello everyone!

I am in a slightly different situation than most applying to dental school, and I would just like some feedback about whether or not im on the right track. I graduated from undergrad a year ago and spent the last two years of undergrad applying to medical school. I was recently accepted to med school, but for many reasons decided not to go.

Luckily, it sounds like the application processes for medical and dental have a good amount of overlap? I have already built up lots of volunteering hours and some extracurriculars. My GPA is 3.8 (sGPA 3.6) by the way, and I got a 28 on the MCAT (if that is any indicator)

Thanks so much!

Yep, shadow and kill the DATs, then you should be good numbers-wise. You're gonna have to explain why you withdrew from your med acceptance, but generally good to go.
