I'm looking to get into a program in my city. My stats are 3.39c & 3.45s GPA. Anyone have experience with personal statements? Please help.

Also, I started an MBA program years ago but never completed it. I have a F on my MBA transcript because I withdrew from the class late. The school has refused to change it to a W. How much is this going to hurt my application?

The most important thing on your personal statement, in addition to your central motivation for medicine, is an explanation of why you feel you are a good fit for the post-bacc you've chosen and how it will help you achieve your goals. Read their mission and show how your goals overlap with theirs. Keep in mind that their success is your success.

It is also very important to show that you will take your post bacc work seriously, you aren't just going through them to tick off the boxes and "get in".

I don't think your MBA experience will hurt you too much. Lots of students give another direction a try and find that it isn't for them. Briefly explain this experience in your essay as "part of your career exploration that reinforced the fact that medicine is the right choice." You do need to report the grades, but it will be ok. If they look at them at all, they won't weigh as heavily as your pre-requisite grades.

Thanks for the advice...much appreciated.
