Help! Should I retake Ochem2?

Hi guys
I am planning on applying this upcoming cycle. The problem is that I messed up my freshman and sophomore years and got a dreaded D+ in OChem2. Am I in trouble? Should I retake it? I do show an upward trend on my transcript though. I took Physics this past summer and GenChem2 last semester and got A's. I don't know if this even matters.
If I do have to retake it, I won't be able to take in the summer. I'll have to wait for the next school year. So will dental schools wait for my OChem2 grade and will this delay my application? Should I wait to apply in 2012 instead?

My stats are:
cGPA=3.32
sGPA=3.26
DAT = 20/22/22

The schools I'm aiming for are: NYU, Boston, UoP, USC.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! =)

Let's see, I had to retake Ochem 2 as well due to a not-so-hot grade. My dental school actually requires at least a "C" in all required courses, so I had zero choice in the matter.

Orgo 2 is a pre-dent... Like Enamelize suggested, you have to have a C or higher. I believe schools won't let you matriculate unless you show them the retake with a C or better. They could accept you before the retake takes place, but they'll stipulate (in the acceptance) that you can't matriculate unless you show them proof.

You can apply this year, just (in AADSAS) specify that you will be retaking orgo 2 in the fall (or spring).... schools will not have an issue with this.

My only concern is... are you really only applying to 4 schools?

As much as you probably dread it, I would definitely re-take orgo 2, seeing as how many schools require a grade of "C" or better in pre-reqs to even consider your application. Even if you did well on the organic section of the DAT, you will still have to re-take the course. I would still contact several of the schools you're interested in and get their input, and you should really apply broadly to as many schools as you can with your stats.

you have to retake orgo 2....As stated schools will not accept a prerequisite class under a C.👍
