I go to Canadian university and we don't have pre-med advisor like they do in the states. I'm completely lost in the process right now. First of all, how do I get reference letters submitted to schools that I'm applying to. Do I send three letters to AMCAS and they send copies to each school? or Do I have to send the letters to each school myself? 😕

Can someone here explain that step to me please? (sending the reference letters to schools)

If you guys don't have committee to send letters on your behalf then you will have to ask the people writing LORs to send letters DIRECTLY (not through you) to the schools you are applying to ....... but only after you get a secondary application from that school........ so hold the LORs until you get the secondaries

you dont need a premed advisor...do you have a career center?
i mean most universities should have a career center...and that center should have a letter service that collects LORs and distributes them at your wish...

however if you do not have a career center that does this then you can try an internet service called interfolio.com

I also attend a Canadian university and I will most likely talk to my professors and get them to put everything into sealed envelopes then sign the backs. Then I will send all the letters together. I have done this with applications before and didn't have any problems.

Are these services worth the money? Do they charge $5/letter sent or for all 3 letters sent to one institution? I am not sure if paying this much is easier than getting everything organized directly through your professors. Has anyone out there used one of these services?

I am at a university with no pre-med advisors. I had each professor send a recommendation to every school I applied to. I applied to over 20 schools, so I had to print out more than 60 envelopes. Then each professor made 19 photocopies of his letter of recommendation and put one in each envelope and sent them out. The university paid for the postage. 😳
