Hi there~ I have an interview coming up soon, but I'm running into a little dilemma. For those who are accustomed to snow or have gone on an interview in the snowy condition, what kind of shoes did you wear? Would the normal dress shoes walk okay without slipping? I have to walk for about 7-10 minutes to get to the school. 😱 Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks! 👍

If it's a city that's used to snow and is not going bankrupt, they will probably salt the sidewalks.

But either way, I'd suggest bringing a pair of boots (or warm sneakers or whatever) to walk to the school in if you can. They should have an area for you to put personal belongings at the school so you can change there. Because if the sidewalks are unsalted, you need boots, otherwise you will be walking quite slowly (depending on how much snow there is on the ground). And if they are salted, you want boots because your dress shoes will be filthy from the salty, muddy water by the time you get there.

What city is your interview in by the way?

Hi Kazema~ Thanks for the helpful tips! 🙂 I've been living in CA mostly, where there's not much snow, so I'm really clueless. I'm going to Cincinnati, OH. BTW, I saw your profile. Great job with pulling that GPA up! I hope you hear some good news in March! :luck:

Any shoes with good rubber soles! Good luck!

If you are going to Cincy to interview, I wouldn't worry. The parking garage where you park for your interview has a skybridge connected to the medical school. You won't be walking outside before the interview.

Thanks Jason... The thing is, I actually made reservation with the hotel that's within the University Hospital (the closest one on their brochure) because I won't be renting a car (under age 25 gets charged $20-25/day!). So, I'm destined to walk outside. 🙁 Hopefully it won't really be more than 7 minutes of walking, otherwise I might never get there! j/k

oh .. for Finch, do you need those kind of boots? I'm going to live at the Mariott one, and they provide shuttle to Finch ... is there a lot of outside walking (like camppus tour) during Finch's interview ... I only have normal shoes ... I've never been in swow weather before ...

Hi there, old school mate~ 😀 Like Jason said, if you are just getting dropped off in front of the school, I won't worry about the shoes too much. I only asked cuz I'm gonna be out there walking for a bit. If the weather's gonna be bad, bring an umbrella. Good luck!

P.S. Have you intereviewed elsewhere?

Buy a nice pair of snow shoes, that's people tend to wear once the snow really starts blanketing the landscape. Since you're from California you can probably save some money by fusing a couple of your old tennis rackets to your pair of airwalks.
