Please , illd love to hear from actual medical school students or people who have gone through this...

Really depressed right now and i dont know what to do🙁. Just got my second mcat scores back and they were pitifull espeacially after 6 months of studying.. i have no idea how else to study for this exam and i really dont want to take it a 3rd time.

Educational Info: Biology major, cgpa 3.5, scigpa 3.7

Stats
1st try: 16N... B7,P6,V3
BTW: I was offered a merp position in Ross u with this score but didn't accept it.
2nd try: 18Q...B5,P6,V7.

I also have a crap load of EC's

Ive been doing a lot of thinking and here is what i have come up with
1. Apply to 8 low tier allopathic US schools.. with some major faith..
2. Apply to 6 osteopathic schools.. Also with some major faith..
3. Apply to SGU and AUC.. Faith required..
4. Do a accelarated BSN somewhere
5. Apply for a PA somewhere

Note: number 4 and 5 are my absolute last resort but i dont know if they make any sense because i have no interest in becoming anything else but an MD or DO. The only reason i am even considering is because i think they might help with my application in the future.

I am burnt outta ideas and sick of staying home. Really need help and advise.

Thank you

Don't waste your money applying to MD schools with your current scores. And though rarely an applicant gets into a DO school with an MCAT in the teens, that happens RARELY and cannot be depended on in your case, even with significant modifying factors to your application.

I suggest you figure out why you score so low. Do you need to retake some of the prerequisites to better grasp the material? Did you not take a formal classroom prep course to gain the necessary strategies? Are you prone to test-taking anxiety? Do you have a history of difficulty with standardized tests (in which case you're in big trouble, as your entire medical career will require repeated success with standardized tests, if you don't figure things out)? Have you met with an academic counselor who has expertise in helping you reach your maximum academic potential?

If you feel you are clinically depressed, see a counselor to better assist you in getting back a positive atitude and becoming proactive in achieving your goals.

SDN's MCAT discussions Forum has some Searchable plans for studying for the MCAT. And you DID do a nice job of pulling the VS up 4 points, which is generally the most difficult section to gain improvement in. You have made a stride in the right direction!

Actually a lot of DO schools have a minimum mcat requirement of 23

Wow! How did you go about preparing for the test? Not trying to be rude, but some people just aren't the best at taking multiple choice tests. I would say pick your self up and try it again. Take a kaplan course if you need it. If this is what you want to do fight for it and take it.

See it through

You did well in your undergrad, which says three things about you: you have a good level of intelligence, can study effectively and are a capable science student. Hold on to those facts. If necessary, go off and do something for a while which will take you away from your MCAT experiences and reinforce/remind you of your abilities.

On the MCAT, it's a reasonable possibility that you haven't noticed or understood something pretty basic, either about the test or about yourself, which would make a big difference to your scores. Outside help from someone who knows you and knows the test would be the easiest way of finding out what the problem is. If you could find an individual tutor with a great track record of students getting good MCAT scores, that might be one answer.
