Hey guys,

SO I'm a current 1st year Osteopathic student and I'm looking for some advise for the summer.

To start of, I'm not the smartest kid on the block. Lot of my classmates are much smarter than I am. However, I'm one of the hardest working and determined people I know. As the 1st year comes to a close, I can say that I'm a B student. I'm probably in top 30-40% of my class.

So far, everything I've been able to do is due to planning ahead and working hard. Board exams will be no different and I would really appreciate help from you all to make this happen.

My plan for board prep for the summer is as follows:
- I have acquired DIT videos and Plan on going through them all and following along in FA
- I realise that DIT is a passive study plan so I would like to start doing questions. I was thinking about buying UW Qbank (~$400/year). Do you think this is a good idea or would you recommend something else?
- I already have a subscription to Firecracker that I have utilized a little but over the 1 year (but not much). I will be using it a lot more over the summer.

What do you think about this plan? Is there anything you wish you had done or would recommend to do differently?

Thanks everyone!

Doing DIT over the summer seems like a waste of 800 bucks to me. Seriously, that just seems silly. I'm not the smartest in my class and am in the top 20ish percent from working hard... I didn't study at all over the summer or during the school year for that matter (for boards)... Review some stuff from first year and take it easy (or don't study at all and take it easy).

Edit--I should say I'm doing DIT right now (in dedicated) and I seriously think it would be so stupid to take DIT the summer after M1. This course requires you to have been through all the organ systems or it will be useless. You're wasting your money.

Kapooya, I appreciate your input.

Something to note, I was able to acquire DIT for free from an upper classmen. It seems a lot of people at my school have DIT videos on Flashdrive. So I wouldn't be spending any money getting it. I would use it as a way to review 1 years material as well as try to learn some of the 2ynd year's material.

Is there anything other than DIT that you'd recommend to better review and learn? I also thought about reading through BRS books which I also have.

Nothing you study this summer will matter. Just relax.

I'll tell you why you don't want to study. unless you're a true gunner you're gonna do all of pathoma or keep reviewing first yr stuff until yr 2 hits. then you'll keep working hard as f during the yr thinking you're ahead but really you'll be more burned out than others so it'll take more time to focus your efforts. then you'll decide you'll use the winter break too. by the time you get to step studying you'll be only SLIGHTLY ahead of others but really you've mind-fukked yourself into thinking your ahead so you won't be as scared. by the time you take step1 you'll be pretty close to where you'd be anyways. long story short relax and rest as much as possible or do something you love like research. I got a poster the past Summer and attacked chicks and still get high UWSA and UW percents by killing class. good luck

Even if you're a true gunner.. Don't study. Get published instead.
