Hey guys,
I am in a bit of a unique situation and wanted to get some input on what you think my best strategy would be. I am currently finishing my second semester of my junior year. I have NOT taken bio 1, orgo 1, or orgo II. I have not taken the DAT.
As I understand it, if I were on time, I should be applying in early June after my junior year--as AADSAS opens June 1.
It looks like I'll be applying after my senior year. I figured I should take bio I and orgo I before taking the DAT.
So I am thinking of taking bio I this summer, then orgo I this fall, and then the DAT in the spring. I am thinking about postponing Orgo II until the summer to focus on the DAT in the spring. Please let me know what you think about this plan.
Another critical question:
Can I apply (and be competitive) without having actually having taken orgo II? My application will be submitted before I actually even start orgo II.
Is this an issue?
Also, do I need to graduate before I apply, or before I matriculate into dental school? There is a possibility I may take a 5th year, so I would not have my diploma by the time I apply.
I am a serious student looking at the top schools. If anything I have suggested is the less than optimal path or would somehow harm my competitiveness, please call me out.
Thanks!
