I have taken a million practice tests and still cant finish most sections on time.
Science is ok, but PAT takes me 75 minutes. Reading 80 minutes, and math about 75 minutes. These are actually improvements. I get good scores but in the past 3 weeks my time hasnt improved at all and I don't see that it will. Do you just go faster on the real dat because of adreneline?
How can I fix this?

have you used TopScore? they have this pace setter thing at the bottom of the screen - that's what helped me with the timing. What type of practice tests are you using?

No, you don't go faster because of adrenaline. Keep practicing, and when practicing use smart test taking skills and go fast!!!!! Use tricks and shortcuts to get the best answers as quickly as possible. Go back later and visualize figures, think harder about missed answers etc. You must be able to do these sections in the correct times on practice tests to finish the real test.

You shouldn't rush. I think that the best way is to practice one Top-Score exam without time, and try to develop your self a specific techniques how to save up time. specially on calculation questions. Once you will have a specific method how to approach each problem you will need to practice some more and you will be able to do other practice test with time, and believe me with enough practice you will be able to finish on time. ( Don't forget Achiever is a little harder that's why it may take longer).

Try answering easier questions first and focuse on the once you can answer fast leaving the harder once for later, remember its raw score. Certainly you may run out of time but remember, it's better to have answered more questions your positive about than prolonging your time on one or two that take a lot of time. In addtion, quesitons in the DAT change but major concepts stay so pay attention to where your weak areas of answereing questions is and do the following A) leave it for later or B) develope short cuts so that when and if the type of question hits on the DAT you are ready with a short cut to kick @--!

Good Luck

You need to develop a PAT strategy for yourself. Don`t just blindly speed up your answers. DAT has similar type of PAT problems, so recognize the type and have a strategy for approaching each type of PAT question. Once you got that down, then you can work on dereasing the time for your answer. I recommend Achiever for the PAT. It has some strategy examples for solving certain types of problems and a lot of practice material. This should really help you. Good luck.

I found myself in your shoes a few months ago but when I took my exam there was enough time. My advice is to create short cuts for the math part and the Pat section. That’s the only way u going to finish it. And make sure u don’t leave any questions blank always give you time to guess the remaining questions!

Good luck
