Help with Genbank????

Does anyone have extensive experience with Genbank??? I have an assignment that I am having some trouble with. Please, Please Help me!

Yep, ironically I do have extensive PROFESSIONAL experience as I am a Bioinformatics engineer at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. And, I actually coded some modules that are in use by Genbank that are referenced in your assignment. So, I am absolutely your man.

But, alas, it ain't gonna happen. Why you ask? There was a time a couple of months ago where I made an innocent reply to someone and you happened to blast me.

Call it what you will....bad kharma, what goes around comes around, etc. Now I probably do not appear as "dumb" as you once referred to me.....

Unless otherwise noted, I usually try to be honest and mature about my posts on SDN. I am sorry that referring to you as “dumb” has bothered you so much.

Because I cannot seem to recall or find the old post, I must stand by my original statement, what you wrote must have been, well, dumb. But hey, that is only one man’s opinion.

I understand your frustration and I am glad that you have gotten this off your chest.

What a great philosophy to adopt! Every time some one offends me I'll cry myself to sleep at night, and then vow to avenge myself upon them if ever they are in need. I certainly hope this guy isn't a Christian, cause reading the bible would make him feel like a hypocritical *****.

I like you Super C. Your comments are for the most part helpful and thought provoking, and usually not off color. I'd help you if I could but,… there was this one time when you walked by and I said “hi”, but you just nodded your head like ‘what’s up’, but didn’t say hi back, and that really pissed me off. SO SCREW YOU AND THE HORSE YOU ROAD IN ON! j/k I don't know anything about genbank.

I don't know of you looked at the assignment, but I am not sure how to complete step 5

Highlight the region of the structure containing the SNP residue(s) that cause
disease. Check to see what it is “near” in the protein by highlighting all residues within 5 angstroms of your SNP. Print this out and turn it in, along with any predictions you can make about the effect the change you made will have on the three dimensional structure (“This residue is in the middle of an alpha helix; substituting with a proline, a well known helix breaker, will probably disrupt the helix”; “this is in the middle of the protein; putting in a hydrophillic residue could really disrupt the folding” or something like that). Write a sentence or two about this and turn it in.

I am not sure how to highlight the residues....
