HELP!! with major/minor

i've been planning to do optiometry ever since i was young and my desire to do it has only increased as i just finished my first year.
My journey started when i was young, i had really high eye preassures so every six months or so my mother would take me to the optiometrist. i was at high risk of glaucoma. Also my mother is a gynocologist, who now does family practice, so growing up i knew i wanted to go into heath care.

So anyways i dont really like biology so i was planing to do a general chem major with a bio minor. does that really matter cause most people i know that want to do opto are all doing bio majors, some of them even told me i would be at a disadvantage if i did chem?

general chem 1: B-
stats: A-
bio 107: B+
bio 108: B
calc 114: B+
calc 115: C 🙁
O chem 1: B+

Your major doesn't matter as long as you complete all of the required pre-reqs

phooey! i have quite a number of friends with psychology majors, or social justice majors in optometry school now. They just took their science requirements for opto school and had fun with the rest of college. 🙂

now this might be risky....but...from my personal experience, one of the best gems of advice i got from an upperclassmen as a freshman was to drop any class i suspected i would get a C in. For me, that was helpful and kept my GPA fairly high. I did end up getting my bachelors in less than 4 years so....that might not actually be the best advice for everyone since we all have different aptitude, different coursework, different professors etc. perhaps i had mostly easy professors [shrug] i did drop a few Cs though, but i have "must take at least 20 credits/quarter" syndrome

yes, i know the gpa is really low, im transfering to the U of alberta(in western Canada) because the University im currently at does not do a bell curve, which i feel always brings me down. My sister who's currently going there ended up with better grades then me eventhough all semister i worked harder and was doing better on all my exams.

have any of you guys experienced no curve?
i found it really challenging just because it was hard for me to get above 80's in all my classes.

But yes i need to try harder and am willing to do i need to do.

Pretty much all my classes had no curve. I still did fine though. 🙂 Sometimes it's an easy teacher, an easy class, or some subjects click okay for you. for those awful awful subjects, going in for office hours ALL THE TIME really helps. First of all, getting to know your teacher and the subject helps your attitude. The more you hate something, the harder it is to master it. So...do your best, have a good attitude about school, and always seek help from people who are doing better (either students or the teacher)
