Hi everyone, first time SDN poster. I am applying MD/PhD and have received a few interviews. I just recently received an interview invitation for mid-November that directly overlaps with another interview that I have previously confirmed.

My problem is, the school that just recently gave me an interview is one of my top choice schools, while the school that I previously confirmed at is much lower on my personal rankings.

Both of these schools only have 3 interview dates for the year: one in November, one in December, and one in January.

So my question is, do you think I would be at a disadvantage moving my recent interview invite from November to December, even though it is one of my top choices? I ask this because the school has rolling admissions and explicitly states they make admissions decisions after each interview date. If so, is it worth changing my previously confirmed interview? Thanks for any help.

I would call the school you currently have scheduled and inquire if you would be able to change your interview date there. If your top school is rolling, I say try to do it as soon as possible.

Agree 100%. Don't tell them it's your #1 that's prompting it, but do say that "something" has come up and you would like to know if it's possible to reschedule.

If they do give you a lot of flak and resist, I think you have to bite the bullet and do the #1 school later. Yes, some spots will be gone, but I bet that if they wanted you in the first interview group, they'll keep that in mind as they make their decisions.
