Help with personal statement

Hey guys, just working on my app, and could use some help with PS. I had some friends read it and they told me I was to negative of myself...

Is saying that I didn't seriously want to become a doctor until I was in college a negative thing? I always like the idea of becoming a doctor, but the thought never was serious until college.

Should I include anything specific?

Also, I'm a re-applicant, should I talk about being a re-applicant?

It's not negative to say you didn't have an epiphany about becoming a doctor. Word it correctly and coherently and it shows great maturity. Include enough specifics so a stranger can follow you logically. Basically 99.9% of us in the non-traditional section did not decide to become a doctor until after college 🙂. I ended up spending a chunk of my PS to explaining my career switch. I don't know much about the second question.

Would be good to talk about your growth and maturation.

I would not use your PS to talk about re-applicant (unless there was even more growth). Be prepared to answer that on secondaries though.
