Hey everyone I’m reapplying this cycle with a few more ECs and a better MCAT score, and I was hoping I could get some advice on my school list.
Stats:
Virginia resident
sGPA- 3.66
cGPA- 3.60
2017 MCAT - 507
2018 MCAT - 515 (127/130/128/130)
During undergrad:
I shadowed 3 physicians (orthopedics, family practice, rad onc)
Volunteered at an organization similar to Ronald McDonald House (medical patients can stay there during treatment)
Volunteered at an animal shelter
Helped create/run a biology research lab on a certain amphibian species
Lifeguarded over the summer
After graduation (and since my last application):
Worked as a medical scribe at a urologist’s office for 4 months
Started volunteering at a hospice center
Got trained as a certified phlebotomy technician
Working as a phlebotomist at a blood bank
Will be taking a 1 year Master’s program at EVMS from Fall-Spring
Here’s my list:
1. Drexel
2. NYMC
3. Virginia Commonwealth University
4. George Washington University
5. Georgetown
6. Temple
7. University of Vermont
8. Thomas Jefferson
9. Brown
10. Eastern Virginia Medical School
11. Emory
12. Albert Einstein
13. Case Western
14. Columbia
15. Mt. Sinai
16. Vanderbilt
17. Washington U in St Louis
18. UCLA
19. University of Virginia
20. Dartmouth
I know there are some reaches in there but is it *too* top heavy? Are there any schools that anyone suggests I should remove or add to my list?
Thanks in advance!
