I'm kind of in panic mode considering I thought I was getting in a summer school class that I needed for a pre-req that at the last minute got canceled. So now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to get all the pre-reqs in before fall 2007. Can anyone suggest how I should do this?? Also, is it really frowned upon by admissions committees to be taking pre-reqs up through summer school right before pharm school? I just don't have any other choice at this point and I really want to try to get in Fall 2007. If not, I'll just apply the next year as well, but I'd like to try to get all my pre-reqs in if possible.

Here's what I have left to take starting in the fall 06 and continuing through both summer sessions 07. Any suggestions to when I should take what - obviously org chem I will be fall and org chem II will be spring, but the others are in no order.
Anatomy/Physiology and lab
Org Chem I and lab
Org Chem II and lab
microbiology
pre-calculus (obviously needed before calc)
calculus
physics
cell biology

I've checked with the schools I'm applying to and these are the only remaining pre-reqs I need for those specific schools.

Any help is appreciated!

You really need to make sure that they will let you take sciences in the summer. For a few years now a lot of pharmacy schools are not allowing this. So it would be your best bet to take all sciences during the semester and put math during the summer.

Really? Which ones? Apparently none of the schools I've looked at.

texas tech will also not accept chemistry classes taken in the summer…but they do accept biology so you might want to ask

Here you go:

Fall: O Chem 1, Pre-calculus, A&P, cell biology
Spring: O Chem 2, Calculus, micro, physics
No Summer School.
If your physics requires calc, you will have to take Physics in the summer. You should be able to take a trig based one and do it in the spring.

It will be a tough load, but if you want it bad enough, you can do it. Take them at a CC. Schools don't care where they are from, just that you do well at them.

I was in a similar situation where I had to do all my sciences in a year. I had the following classes to do: Gen Chem 1 and 2, O chem 1 & 2, Physics 1 & 2, Bio 1 & 2, A&P and Micro. All had labs combined, 4 credits/class.

Here is how I did it:

Summer session 2: Gen Chem 2 (I had to beg to get in it before taking Gen
Chem 1. It came down to the class wasn't full and my money was green, so they allowed me to do it. I read through the majority of the Gen Chem one text a couple weeks prior to class, then did fine in Gen Chem 2)

Fall: Gen Chem 1, O Chem 1, Physics 1, Bio 1

Spring: O chem 2, physics 2, bio 2, A&P, Micro (I had to get an override from the department head to let me take 20 credit hours)

I took all of these sciences at two community colleges in the spring and one in the fall. I had to use two the first semester to work it out around the schools scheduling. Your situation is similar and very doable. Good Luck.

Look at PharmCas under 'School Pages.' Most schools are listed with all PreReqs and when they must be completed.
