Hello everyone, I wanted to make this post to get some more input on a list of schools that I've been looking into applying to but am still a little unsure about. As the title says, my overall GPA (3.35) is quite low but is supplemented by a high MCAT (92nd percentile), as well as a strong upward trend consistently over the past 70ish credits (I graduated this past spring from my state school with a degree in biology, taking a gap year). My method was to consider schools where my numbers align above the 10th percentile for GPA and above the median for the MCAT using MSAR, plus all state schools (MI, ORM) as well as DO schools. Also, anywhere that values reinvention and recognizes strong upward grade trends in junior and senior years.

Activities:
- 1 year of Biology research for my honors thesis
- Summer-long combined research internship/shadowing experience at local hospital
- 1.5 years of volunteering in the emergency room (4 hrs/week)
- Clinical research volunteering at a private practice last summer that I'm looking to resume again this summer and into my gap year
- Served as a reading tutor for underprivaleged children in Detroit for 6 months and as a biology teaching assistant at my school for one year
- Nursing home volunteer (8hrs/week) for a summer, planning to return during my gap year
- ~80 hours physician shadowing (MD and DO)

I couldn't find any equivalent of the MSAR for DO schools but this is what I have so far for MD:

Central Michigan
Cincinnati
Drexel
Michigan State
NYMC
Loyola
Oakland Beaumont
University of Miami
Toledo
VCU
Virginia Tech
Wake Forest
Wayne State
Western Michigan

I have similar stats, check out my thread, @Faha helped out narrowing down my list, check it for any suggestions. GL BRO

You can add schools such as:
Quinnipiac
Albany
Penn State
Temple
Jefferson
GW
Georgetown
Rosalind Franklin
Creighton
Roseman (new school accepting applicants sometime this year)
You are competitive for any DO school so apply to at least 8 (include MSUCOM). You may need a DO LOR for some schools.
