I have a tentative list of schools I have created using MSAR and my own research but would much appreciate outside opinions! I am not happy to say this but this will be my 4th time applying.. previous times I did not seek much advice and had bad school lists, hence why I am here.

Stats:
Michigan resident
GPA: 3.4
MCAT: 512
Non-URM
4.5 years as a scribe in ED and outpatient clinics, with extensive management experience since finishing undergrad 3 years ago (current)
~340 hours non clinical volunteering with local Red Cross doing lots of different things including disaster response (current)
No meaningful research
No real clinical volunteering

With my GPA I realize I should be targeting mostly DO schools. In the past I have applied to schools only in the great lakes region because I thought I would get *something* in-state but clearly I was mistaken. I am currently on one MD waitlist but am just going with the assumption that I'm not getting in there.

Thank you!

For what it’s worth, your stats are fine. Do you have a red flag somewhere on your app? Cause something on there seems to have been holding you back.

Also, if you haven’t already added these schools, I’d add: Jefferson University, Temple, NYMC, SUNY Downstate, Albany, Cooper, Seton Hall (you can still apply this cycle I believe), NJMS and Robert Wood Johnson. Wishing you all the best for this cycle!!

Thank you! I don't think I have any red flags, I have come to the conclusion that my school list was just not broad enough. I have had a few interviews, so I guess it gave me a false sense of security. I did apply to two DO schools last cycle, but stupid me didn't realize my letters had not been received by the schools, so I'm hoping to avoid the small but lethal mistakes this time around...

Trust me, as a fellow reapplicant, I understand completely. Between this year and last year, i’ve applied to over 60 different medical schools. Was it overkill? Maybe. Did it work? You betcha

Apply broadly to at least 20 DO schools and you should receive more interviews. Include these schools:
MSUCOM
MU-COM
LECOM (all schools)
PCOM (all schools)
WVSOM
UP-KYCOM
LMU-DCOM
CUSOM
ACOM
ARCOM
BCOM
WCU-COM
UIWSOM
VCOM (all 3 schools)
NYIT-Arkansas
For MD schools you could try these:
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Central Michigan
Wayne State
Michigan State
Toledo
Rosalind Franklin
Creighton
Quinnipiac
New York Medical College
George Washington
Seton Hall
NOVA MD
The GPA-MCAT grid shows you have only a 50% chance for a MD acceptance and so far you have been in the 50% that do not receive an acceptance. That is why it is important to apply to at least 20 DO schools.

I would also do:
Tulane (submit crazy early though!!)
Geisinger Commonwealth

For DO schools DMU is fantastic.
