Help with school list

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You have a great shot at those schools. I also think you have a great shot getting accepted to UCLA or UCSF (both of which are P/F systems) as an OOS applicant.

Buffalo is a hit or miss. I know someone with your exact same stat and didn't get in. He's also a NY resident. Throw in UDM, UCONN, Temple, Penn.

And one of the following

NYU, Boston, Tufts

I'll definitely check out UCLA and UCSF, but I'm afraid that people that attend UCLA will be really competitive (doesn't the school attract people who want to specialize?)

And kittysquared, I'm not too terribly interested in UDM or UPenn.

Would Temple/Tufts be good for "safety" schools?

Well, I'll be there and I don't want to specialize. Haha!

UCSF - P/F, had a strong history of high board scores before boards went P/F, two half-days per week so you can explore other interests, two 3-month long summers off for studying for post-doctoral exams, awesome volunteering/research opportunities (they have rotations throughout NorCal and have frequent outreach events), San Francisco, in-state tuition after first year (still fairly expensive and you can expect 10% increase in tuition for the next couple of years), and has a very diverse study body with a wide-spectrum of interests. UCLA is H/P/F by the way.

The UC's are experiencing a statewide disinvestment in higher education. By itself, UCSF is a very profitable organization/hospital but the problem is that the state siphons off UCSF's profits and diverts it to fund other state schools.

I advise you to stay in-state (VCU) or go to UConn. Attached is an Excel sheet that I've posted in a bunch of other threads but I think it will be most relevant for someone in your position.

I highly recommend you ask this on DentalTown (you'll need to set up an account) for a more informed opinion from practicing dentists who have been there, done that.
