Lonely,

First off, whatever you do don't mention your family's aspirations for you to go into the medical field! I would build on your love of chemistry and add in some other factors about being a pharmacist that appeal to you - whether it is the ability to help others, making advances in the field of medicine, etc. In my statement I talked about how I would either want to work in retail (and why) and/or for the government -- the Veterans administration.

I'm planning to apply to some pharmacy schools this year, but I'm stuck on the essay part of the application, which I have to state my motivation and professional career goals for pharmacy. I don't have any life-changing experience that leads me toward pharmacy. My family wants me to do something in the medical field and honestly, pharmacy is the only medical profession that I can actually make it. I love chemistry especially organic chemistry because I excel in those areas. I love synthesizing stuff and pharmacy is about making and syntheszing drugs. Can a pharmacy student or anyone give me some pointers and guidance (you can shoot me a pm). Thanks alot.

that would be a phD not a pharmD

You must not be a real pharmacy student then. Ever heard of compounding pharmacy?

Compounding is more for working with pre-synthesized materials and not actually going through the whole manufacturing process, which some PhD researchers do.

I'm sure he wasn't implying the synthesis of raw products to something you dispense.
