I haven't submitted my application yet. Almost done though, just need to finish up on my essays and waiting for one last LOR. How about you?

Just checked on PTCAS and they sent mine out today. Such a relief. Now I have to finish up the supplemental apps. What a PIA.

Just wanted to throw this out there, since it has come up a number of times now: You do NOT need to have all of your LORs complete in order to submit your application. In fact, you can even add/delete/edit your recommendations section after submitting. As of now, it is taking 2 weeks from when you submit until when your app is actually sent to the school. IMO, I think it's best to submit, and then just get your LORs to follow. There's no need to hold onto your app just waiting for the LORS, particularly when the whole PTCAS processing takes so long.

so how much of the application has to be done prior to submitting it since you said that the LOR doesn't exactly have to be in.. I take it it's just the course work, and payment? do we need to submit the essays as well?

This is one of the FAQs from the PTCAS website and probably answers your question best.

Q: Can I edit the application after I have e-Submitted it to PTCAS?
A: You are able edit some sections, but the majority of the application becomes locked once you e-Submit your first designation(s). The following sections can be edited after you have e-Submitted your application:
  • Alternate Name
  • Mailing Addresses
  • Phone Numbers
  • Email Addresses
  • Password: Not transmitted to your designated PT programs
  • Designate Additional PTCAS Programs: No substitutions or deletions
  • Planned and In-Progress Courses: One-time changes during the Academic Update only
  • New Fall Courses Completed: One-time changes during the Academic Update only
  • Reference Contacts: You may not delete an evaluator from your application once PTCAS receives the evaluator’s reference
  • Essays: You may add additional Essays either to pair with a newly added designation or to keep as drafts for designations that you plan to add in the future. Essays that are not specifically attached to a designation within the Designations page will not be shown to any programs. The Essay is the only section that you can tailor specifically for an individual designation. You cannot adjust other sections of your application when adding a new designation.

so you can add a letter of recommendation even after you submit you application? How about volunteer work, can you also update that information? That is basically what is stopping me from sending in the application. I need to volunteer at a third place and I am also looking for a third person who could write me a lor.

You definitely CAN add an LOR after submitting; I just did that yesterday. You can not edit your volunteer or observation hours in any way though. I just "tried" to be sure, but no there is no option to edit. You could, however, ask your potential schools if they accept update letters. One school told me directly to submit as early as possible and then just send updates with anything of significance, such as another observation experience.

did anyone else find it difficult to stay within the 4500 character limit for the essays. By the end of all of my revisions, it was an entire different essay.
