Hi you all, my father is dating a woman who claims that she went to Texas A&M and supposedly passed her "Vet Exam" with a 95, yet Ive never seen her study or seen her degree. Her excuse is that they must have sent her degree to the wrong address, and she mistakenly refers to her degree as her "CERTIFICATE". I know that A&M is a university with a lot of pride (as they should), and not one person Ive ever met, even when I lived there for 5 years, would dare mistakenly call their degree a certificate. Her facebook states that she got her LVN license back in 2007, yet she somehow made it through vet school in 5 years? No way in hell. She says that she is in a part-time residency now, where she will get more hours once she learns more. My question is this: is there some kind of veterinarian database where I can check to see if she actually does have her license to practice, and is there such a thing as "part-time residency"? Even if she does somehow have her license, its been at least a year since she was in school, because Ive known her for over a year, and she has not one book from so-called school. I smell bull****. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

She says she's in a part-time residency? Uh....those don't really exist. Or at least I have never heard of one. I'm a current resident at TAMU. If you PM me her info, I can look her up (I don't believe this is against any rules; residents' names are public knowledge at the school). Hell, you can go to the TAMU vetmed website and search for her name there yourself as well - if she is employed by the university, she should be in there.

Obviously (and this is for the mods too) I will not share any info on the thread - just to you.

Why do you care if she is lying? How does this affect you?

If she is, and you expose her, how will this affect her relationship with your dad, and your relationship with him?

Seriously?!

If my parent, friend, hell... next door neighbor; was dating a fraud I would want them to know. What they do about it is their business.

What if this person gave veterinary/medical advice to cover their con? What if they tried to do a procedure to quell any doubt?

If someone is willing to lie about their profession, chances are it is the tip of the iceberg.

Chances are this person will be caught up in their lies soon enough, and without generating 'hard feelings' for the person who outs them early.

If the dad is enjoying the relationship and is not being taken advantage of through the lie, exposing them will only show that you didn't like that person in the first place, and like it or not, you will be considered the reason why the relationship ended.

Or, as it sometimes happens, the relationship will remain, and the relationship between the father and daughter will suffer.

By all means, if you think the truth is the absolute necessity at whatever cost, go ahead.

Aside from the fact that friends don't let friends date fraudsters, if this woman is pretending to be a veterinarian, it affects the entire veterinary community......and as a future member of that community, you should care.

uh, it seems awfully important if woman is a psycho or not!

the avma website, for one, has database for graduates, plus you can call texas a&m College of vet medicine and ask if she is an alum of their school-not private info, public access.

Easy solution. My guess? She is hoax and dad needs to know; the dude who says "who cares" is WRONG; woman sounds unbalanced and certainly not "mate material"

She is a fraud; I am an alum of auburn CVM class of 1991 now headed to med school as an older student; veterinary boards were never "95" scored; now passing is around 460 type numbers.

This woman may very well be a fleeing felon with a totally fake id; you have to call A&M and the AVMA website and just ask if she is an alum and a licensed vet!

Godspeed!

Trying asking her about dog's diseases and how to cure them and see what see says. HAHA. but seriously, it would be a an issue if she "pretends" to be a vet cause it would ruin reputations of some other vet.

Lying about your job doesn't make you unbalanced. Plenty of people lie about things and aren't 'unbalanced'.

Yes, a 'fleeing felon'. How about someone who is not a felon, and simply insecure about their real job and life and is lying to someone hoping to impress them.

If she is indeed a fraud, how would this harm the reputation of actual vets, since you simply have to say - 'she wasn't really a vet'?

True, but it certainly doesn't set a good precedent for trust in the relationship. Lying about how much your car cost or something like that is one thing. Lying about your career is a bit more serious.
